Thomas Rhett Takes Us Back To College With His 2018 CMAs Performance

Nothing like the good ol' college days.

Thomas Rhett brought the University of Georgia to the 2018 Country Music Awards as he performed his hit single "Life Changes" with UGA as the backdrop.

The real-life college dropout kicked off his performance hopping out of dorm room bed before knocking over a few books. He then began singing with a full-on marching band, seemingly ditching his studies completely to have some fun. #Relatable

The most memorable part of Thomas' performance though was when he hugged his wife, Lauren Akins, who was in the crowd, and broke out into a cute laugh as they held each other. (Talk about couple goals!)

Last month, Thomas opened up about how the "Life Changes" came to be, and how he felt about the huge success of the single. "It's cool to see how much people can relate," Thomas shared in a video obtained by E! News. "Everybody has things crazy that happen in their lives."

He continued, "I really just tried to talk about what I knew from either my experience or from my friends' experiences. To me, that's what country music is. It's a genuine story about something you've experienced... 'Life Changes' is basically just a page out of a journal and having something that personal and vulnerable—not only be on the record but a single that radio is playing—it's a very special feeling."
